Projects of PANDOWAE

English

In PANDOWAE phase 1, seven individual projects were funded by the DFG. Additionally, there were contributions from three associated projects. In PANDOWAE phase 2, projects became slightly modified, one was finished and new projects joint the research group.

Phase1-projects

Phase 2 Projects:

TROP:The impact of tropical-extratropical interactions on downstream predictability  (former:ET)

MED: :The initiation, development, and predictability of Mediterranean weather on the synoptic and convective scale leading to extreme events

DIAP: Quantifying the role of diabatic processes for forecast errors associated with mid-latitude weather systems – A combined observational, diagnostic and modelling approach (former:DIAC)

RW-FCST: Diagnosing Rossby wave train errors in numerical weather forecasts (former:SESUWAT)

VARNAER: Variability and extremes of poleward breaking Rossby waves over the North Atlantic-European region

ADENS: Large-scale and local control of severe weather: towards adaptive ensemble forecasting

BLOCK: The predictability of blocking: Case studies using ensemble prediction

RW-GUIDE: Diagnosis and predictability of Rossby wave trains and their waveguides

Associated Project:

RW-CIRRUS: Impact of sub-synoptic scale processes in the upper troposphere on Rossby wave evolution
